Market volatility continues to rain heavy in the equities market. That's opening additional opportunities for investors looking to add bonds to counterbalance the market fluctuations.

When it comes to cost savings on fixed income ETFs, Vanguard is head-and-shoulders above competitors. But it can be easy to get up caught in the low expense ratio game.

The credit risk profile for corporate bonds has improved. But given the abundance of market uncertainty, it may be best to stick to Treasuries, or for additional yield, municipal bonds.

The bond market is more than Treasuries. Consider munis, mortgage-backed securities, and investment grade debt.
